8 warning signs of a potential blood clot that you shouldn’t ignore

Blood is meant to coagulate as it stops external bleeding, according to MayoClinic. However, there are situations when blood clots when it shouldn’t, such when it’s still in your veins. Blood clotting can be fatal under certain circumstances. Heart attack, stroke, and other potentially fatal medical disorders can be brought on by internal clotting. Fortunately, there are methods to determine whether you have a blood clot.

Here are eight warning signals of blood coagulation.

1. Swelling in One Limb.

Deep vein thrombosis is one type of dangerous blood clot (DVT). When DVT happens, oxygen cannot reach your body’s important organs, which results in poor blood circulation and edema. It may be a DVT if one or more limbs are swollen for unknown causes.

2. Leg Pain or Tenderness

Another typical DVT symptom is discomfort and soreness in the legs. DTV also results in limb edema and other symptoms such leg pain, cramping, and soreness to the touch.

3. Red Streaks Along Your Veins

Seek medical help right away if you detect crimson streaks on your skin that follow the lines of your veins. Bruising from blood clots is a cause for concern in and of itself, but streaking is an indication of a more serious, potentially fatal problem. Another indication to watch out for is that these streaks will make your skin feel warm to the touch.

4. Chest Pain and Heavy Breathing

Heavy breathing and chest pain should never be disregarded. However, specialists warn that you might be dealing with a blood clot in the lungs if you have both symptoms simultaneously. If you experience these symptoms, stop what you’re doing and get help right once. A lung clot can swiftly become lethal.

5. Shortness of Breath

Breathlessness is never a symptom to dismiss, to reiterate. You may have a clot in the lungs if you notice that you’re having problems breathing, feel your chest fluttering, have a racing heart, or suffer any sort of dizziness. Each of these symptoms, especially when present all at once, calls for prompt medical intervention.

6. A Random Cough Without a Cold

Look out for additional potential blood clot warning signals if you are not ill but are coughing up blood without any apparent cause. These include an accelerated heartbeat, chest discomfort, and breathlessness. Call your doctor right away if any of these symptoms appear in you.

7. Vomiting or Diarrhea

In any situation, severe vomiting and/or diarrhea are not typical; nevertheless, if they persist, get help right once. These signs and symptoms might point to an abdominal blood clot.

8. Severe, Chronic Headaches

If you frequently have excruciating headaches and have trouble speaking or seeing, this could be a sign that you have a blood clot in your brain.
